Avast runs in 30 different languages. It is a good free alternative to other Windows anti virus software such as Norton or McAfee.

Avast.com also has a free online file scanner where you can quickly check a specific file for viruses free of charge without installing Avast:

Avast is compatible with all Windows versions, from Windows 95 up to Windows Vista.

Another free anti virus tool is AVG.
